Artičok is not only the best restaurant in Split but also a unique gastronomic experience.
Unquestionably, one of the most distinctive cities in Croatia is Split, the second-largest city. Within and around the Roman palace of Diocletian, a singular historical centre is concealed behind the present city. With thousands of tourists visiting each year, it is also a well-liked tourist destination.
In addition, it is among the Croatian cities with the busiest and most vibrant food scenes. Modern restaurants compete with traditional taverns in the old town, where aspiring chefs from both generations fight to establish themselves in the city. In Split, you will try the best cevapi in Croatia as well as unique fine dining experiences.
ARTiČOK /a:titʃɒk/ as in artichoke, an edible flower, or as a pun which describes our restaurant philosophy – ART whether it is on a wall, or on a plate, and ČOK which in Croatian refers to a small bite, a nibble or a munch.

THE PLACE
Since its establishment in 2016, Artičok has successfully displaced rival restaurants to establish itself as one of Split’s top dining destinations. The restaurant has a bohemian vibe thanks to its owner, Marin Radic, who is also an interior designer. The dining room’s vibrant colours and imaginative decoration enhance the ambiance just as much as the food you eat.

During the summer, the experience is transferred to the roof of the building. It is undoubtedly one of the most atmospheric and beautiful rooftops in Split, with a unique view of the sea, the roofs of the houses in the old town, and the buildings that surround Prokurative (Republic) Square. Finally, straightforward, prompt, and amiable, the service establishes a sense of familiarity right away.

THE FOOD
But above all, what stands out at Artičok is definitely the food itself. This can be attributed to its enticing menu of Mediterranean cuisine, which is presented with style but without undue formality. Its kitchen is unquestionably modern in look and outcome, but it is focused on the ingredients and draws inspiration from Croatian and generally Balkan traditions. Although there is a Croatian identity, the end result defies geographical definitions. Every food you eat brings back memories of past favourites, but the flavour is refreshingly unexpected. The taste is perfectly balanced, and the quality of the raw materials is evident in every bite.

From the dishes, one that totally embraces this philosophy is certainly the Jerusalem Artichoke Risotto with Jerusalem artichoke, carnaroli rice, and artichoke chips. But also a perfect combination of comfort and surprise are the lamb risotto with carnaroli rice and the slow-cooked beef rib with potato mousse, vegetables, and beef jus.

Nevertheless, the choice is indicative because nothing on Artičok’s menu lacks taste, whether it is for starters, side dishes, or main dishes. Every combination of these will yield an equally unforgettable outcome.

DRINKS & DESSERTS
The restaurant also offers a variety of 50 wine labels and a nice collection of original and classic cocktails. In addition, you should surely finish your dinner with one of Artičok’s specialty desserts, which are made daily and not on the menu. There is a reason that a professional pastry chef supervises the desserts, which joyfully round off the culinary experience.

RESERVATION
If there’s one issue with Artičok, it’s that there aren’t many tables available. To avoid disappointment, it would be preferable if you made reservations in advance via the restaurant’s website. They are really professionals, and you won’t be disappointed.
