A few words about our website: By Food and Travel
After countless trips across Europe—especially Greece—with the same tight-knit group of friends, something clicked. We realised our adventures weren’t just memories for us; they were stories worth sharing. The hidden tavernas. The backstreet cafes. The quiet beaches no one talks about. The kind of moments you only find when you wander a little differently.
So we created this space.
Our mission? To experience popular destinations beyond the obvious—and to uncover the places that don’t make it onto postcards. We believe travel isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about perspective. It’s about slowing down, tasting the local flavours, talking to the people who actually live there, and seeing a city the way it sees itself.
And when it comes to our home, Athens, we’re especially passionate. We don’t just want you to visit—we want you to feel it. Through local eyes, neighbourhood stories, food, history, and everyday life that most travelers miss.
While Antonis Tsapepas leads the writing, this project is powered by a small circle of loyal friends who research, explore, taste, photograph, and debate every recommendation before it reaches you. It’s collaborative, personal, and built on real experiences.
Our goal is simple: help you travel smarter. With our advice, you can make the most of your time and budget—whether you’re exploring Europe or heading further afield. From preparation tips and safety insights to industry trends and truly unique destinations, our Travel The World category dives into everything you need to know (and a few things you didn’t know you needed).
And that small but meaningful word in our title—“By”?
It represents our signature. Our point of view. Our authenticity.
Every article is written by us, lived by us, and shared for you.

Antonis Tsapepas
I was born in Athens, and travel has always been a part of who I am. My countless journeys across Greece and around the world ignited a deep passion for exploration, discovery, and the joy of new experiences. In 2019, I felt the urge to share this passion more meaningfully—combining my love for travel and gastronomy.
At the same time, I wanted to reveal Athens from a local’s perspective, offering visitors a richer, more authentic experience of the city. Inspired by this vision, I founded byfoodandtravel.com—a space where travel, food, and local stories come together to inspire and guide fellow explorers.
