5 + 1 restaurants in Nafplio you should try

Bourtzi off the coast of Nafplio

Nafplio in Peloponnese is a wonderful and picturesque town, and also an ideal place for a one day trip from Athens or for a weekend break. The choices for food are many but not all of them really worth a visit. These are our favourite 5 + 1 places to eat in Nafplio :

  1. Scuola Pizza-Bar : Located at the harbour but away from the main attractions of the city, this is a place you should visit if you want to taste excellent pizzas, pastas, risottos, salads and many more delicious dishes. Arrive early because they don’t accept reservations and the place is usually full of tourists as well as locals.(Bouboulinas 39, Nafplio)
  2. Pidalio : Another excellent place to eat in Nafplio, off the main touristic area. Delicious Greek cuisine with a modern twist. A large variety of dishes with meat or fish and use of many local products. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. (25 Martiou 5, Pronoia Nafplio)
  3. La Gratella : A genuine Italian experience in the heart of Nafplio. Here you could taste Italian food (not a Greek version of it) in the atmosphere of a real trattoria. The place is usually crowded but the charismatic maitre will always find you a table. (Vasilissis Olgas 44, Naflpio)
  4. 3Sixty : All day cafe restaurant in a neoclassical building at the center of the city. Excellent quality, daily menu and upscale service in a place where you can eat, have dessert, drink coffee or just have a glass of wine. (Kolleti 1, Nafplio)
  5. Fugaro Le Cafe : Just off the town, on the road to Tollo, you meet this exceptional place. In the place of an old factory, you can now visit an art gallery, a library and of course this wonderful all day restaurant. The terrace outside offers scenic view of the old factory, while the inside is excellent for the winter with the huge fireplace always burning. There is an changing menu of various dishes based on Greek cuisine with a more delicate approach. (Asklipiou 98, Nafplio)
  6. Pournari (at Kiveri Village) : If you are willing to drive the extra 15 klm to visit this small seaside village near Nafplio, you won’ t regret it, if you find a table under the big pournari tree. A genuine Greek family tavern with excellent food and people who will treat you as members of their family. Try here many regional dishes, such as : goges (local pasta), grilled chicken with lemon sauce, keftedes (fried meatballs) with homemade ketchup and many more. They only problem is that the place is open only in the evening. Don’ miss it. (Eparchiaki Odos Kiveriou – Astrous 77, Kiveri Argolidos)
