There are some countries in the world where cycling is incredible. Others have spectacular train routes which whisk you through stunning landscapes. But there are some countries in the world that simply have to be explored by car. It is these countries that we will focus on in this article.
There is nothing like the thrill of being out on the open road and being able to stop off and explore wherever you want. So, if you are looking for an adventure, get yourself a motor and start burning up the miles!
USA

The US has incredible road trips running from north to south and east to west. The route that most people typically associate with the United States is Route 66. It is a road packed with history. If you are looking for a scenic coastal route, head for the Pacific Coast Highway. This highway keeps the ocean at your side as you enjoy the classic California scenery. And if you want to go even further, the Pan American Highway will take you down from Alaska, through Canada, the US, Central and South America. It is truly the ultimate road trip. Alternatively, head down the Atlantic Coast, taking in New York and heading down to Florida with a stay at ROOST hotel in Philadelphia along the way.
Germany

For fast drivers, the no-limit autobahns in Germany are a dream come true. In Germany whisking from one city to another is so straightforward. Many of the best drives in the country are found in the south of Germany. Probably the most famous is the Romantic Road. This route is designed to be savoured at a leisurely pace, allowing for stops in charming mediaeval towns, hikes to hilltop castles, and visits to historic churches and cathedrals.
Australia

Though it isn’t quite on the scale of the US, Australia is vast. The best way that you are going to be able to see a lot of what it has to offer is by renting a car. And if you are planning on heading into some of the remote outback regions, it is worth getting a car which offers durability. The most famous drive that you can do Down Under is the Great Ocean Road. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it is arguably one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world.
Ireland

Even though it is much smaller than the others, Ireland is a country which is full of remote regions which are best explored by car. One of the great scenic drives in Europe is the one which travels around the Ring of Kerry. This is where you can experience Ireland at its most rugged and windswept. If you are looking for a longer trip, the Wild Atlantic Way takes in the entire west coast. However, it also includes parts of the north and south as well.
A road trip in any one of these four countries will give you the opportunity to see some incredible scenery. At the same time, you have the freedom to choose wherever you want to stop and explore.
